You really must get there. It won't disappoint and you really only need 1-2 days. I'm looking to spend more time in the UK next year. Anywhere you suggest?
If you ever decide to explore the southeast of England — around Kent or Sussex — you're in for a real treat, especially if you love the countryside.
It’s amazing how many beautiful places you can find, even just a stone’s throw from London!
Think fairy-tale castles like Bodiam, glorious gardens like Sheffield Park, lovely little towns full of character like Lewes and Rye… and the peaceful, rolling landscapes of the High Weald.
So much to see — both the famous spots and the hidden gems! 😊
I'm adding all these to my list. Thank you so much. I'm planning some extensive travels in the UK next year. And considering Edinburgh is my favorite city, fairy-tale castles sound right up my street!
This felt like a love letter to York, and now I absolutely want to go. I really appreciated how you captured the in-between spaces—like the quiet behind York Minster and the spooky magic of walking the Shambles at night. Your description of it as a “walled sanctuary” really stayed with me. Also: sticky toffee pudding at Cut & Craft is officially on my list now.
Wow, Jen — York looks like such a fascinating place! Thank you for sharing it so beautifully.
I live in the south of England, so quite far from York, but I really hope to visit one day and see the fabulous Shambles and the Minster in person.
Take care!

Thanks for your kind note! I appreciate all of what you said so much. And there's never too much sticky toffee pudding to be had. Cheers!
This is so good. Well written!
Thank you! It's been my favorite one to write so far!
